Betton is the 446th-ranked recruit nationally and 33rd among linebackers. The Shakopee, Minn. native is also the No. 4 prospect from his state, per Rivals Industry Rankings. Betton is No. 417 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings, No. 35 at his position, and fourth from Minnesota.

Betton has an official visit lined up with the Nittany Lions over the weekend of June 19. It's the only team he is scheduled to visit.

This will be his third visit if he does not return to Happy Valley in the meantime. He previously visited Penn State during the winter before observing spring practice.

"[Linebackers coach Tyson Veidt] talked a lot about the culture they are building at Penn State," Betton told Lions247 before his commitment, according to Tyler Calvaruso. "The defensive coaching staff with the alums, [defensive coordinator D'Anton] Lynn and coach [Dan] Connor, the Linebacker-U history and how special Happy Valley is. We spent a lot of time talking football and just getting to know each other."

In 2025, the linebacker logged 88 tackles, four tackles for loss, four pass breakups, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery.

He joins a Class of 2027 at Penn State that includes a number of defensemen already: three-stars defensive lineman Carter Blattner, cornerbacks Ka'ron Ceasar, Semajay Robinson, and Zachary Gleason Jr. The blue and white also earned a commitment from four-star wide receiver Landon Blum, their first and only commit on the offensive side of the ball as of Sunday, April 12.

Head coach Matt Campbell hopes to land one of two top quarterbacks, four-stars Peter Bourque and Will Mencl, as well as a four-star running back, David "Tre" Segarra.
