Taisun Phommachanh – Clemson

Phommachanh is a guy most thought would enter the portal last season, and one Penn State Football would have reportedly had interest in had he.

The now former Clemson Tiger ended up suffering an injury and stayed at Clemson but now makes for one of the most intriguing names in the transfer portal for James Franklin to consider.

Phommachanh did see the field some this past season, spelling starter DJ Uiagalelei who had his share of struggles. Taisun threw for 131 yards on 11 of 18 passing with a touchdown and interception. He also ran for 69 yards on 11 carries as he is a true dual threat quarterback.

He was recruited by Penn State Football out of high school, a four star recruit who ranked as the 19th best dual threat quarterback in the country according to 247 sports.

We saw Sam Ehlinger, a dual threat quarterback at Texas have success in a Mike Yurcich offense when he serves as the offensive coordinator at Texas in 2020.

Phommachanh could be a quarterback the Nittany Lions take a chance on to see if they can strike gold in a guy who just didn’t get his shot at a place like Clemson because of the guys ahead of him.
