Penn State Freshman Basketball DJ Gordon has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to Verbal Commits.

The Pittsburgh, PA native from First Love Christian Academy is a 6’5″ shooting guard who appeared in 6 games for the Nittany Lions in his freshman campaign. Gordon averaged 3.5 minutes per game (0.5 points and 0.8 rebounds per game).

Gordon was probably best known for his four-foul game at Illinois when he played a career high seven minutes but was tagged with a technical after getting into it with the Illini’s Da’Monte Williams.

Gordon is a former Top-100 recruit of Pat Chambers.  It’s not entirely surprising that he wants a new location as he was part of a 2020-2021 class that outside of Abdou Tsimbila, never really cracked the rotation for Jim Ferry, the former interim head coach (now of UMBC).

While Penn State Basketball may not miss his production next year, it’s another roster spot for incoming head coach Micah Shrewsberry to fill.  Penn State Basketball head coach Micah Shrewsberry has added two players from the portal (Boggie Cornwall and Jalen Pickett) and was able to secure Transfer Portal returns from both Seth Lundy and John Harrar.

Still, this is another lost Nittany Lion to end to the ongoing list:

D.J. Gordon — tbd

Izaiah Brockington — tbd

Trent Buttrick — UMass

Patrick Kelly — Fordham

Myreon Jones — Florida (who bizarrely said Penn State never even reached out to him)

Jamari Wheeler — Ohio State
