Penn State Basketball’s Izaiah Brockington has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, again, according to 247Sports.

Welp, this is confusing.

Just three weeks ago, Izaiah Brockington announced he was returning to Penn State Basketball in a now deleted tweet.  We wrote about it here.

Myles Dread even retweeted the Brockington return tweet, which you can see here is now unavailable.

Plus, it’s not like Penn State signed a bunch of players in that time (either from the Transfer Portal or a 2021-2022 incoming recruit) that would take playing time from him?  Yeah Seth Lundy announced he was returning but they really don’t play the same position?

Brockington averaged 12.6 points per game, along with 3.9 rebounds in almost 30 mnutes a game, starting 24 of 25 games.  While entering the Transfer Portal doesn’t guarantee he’s leaving, entering the portal a second time definitely isn’t a good look and you have to imagine this isn’t good news for new Head Coach Micah Shrewsberry.

It appeared the Transfer Portal drama had finally ended when Harrar announced his return, the final decision from all 7 players that entered the portal.

Assuming Brockington is leaving this time, Penn State will have another large hole to fill.

This odd timing doesn’t bode well for Shrewsberry, who likely thought he had already successfully re-recruited Izaiah.  Significant returning backcourt players are now just Sam Sessoms and Myles Dread as it was expected Brockington would be the starting shooting guard.
