Penn State Football lands Temple transfer Arnold Ebiketie
Penn State football lands their fourth commitment out of the transfer portal this offseason with Temple defensive end Arnold Ebiketie.
Penn State Football head coach James Franklin said a few weeks ago that the Nittany Lions’ approach to the transfer portal would change this offseason, and once again delivered on his promise, landing his fourth commitment in the form of Temple defensive end Arnold Ebiketie.
Ebiketie is a redshirt junior listed at six-foot-four and 235 pounds and was voted as a second team All-AAC selection this past season at Temple. The Maryland native racked up 42 total tackles, four sacks, eight and a half tackles for loss and three forced fumbles, a lone bright spot for a 1-6 Temple team.
Defensive end was a need for Penn State Football after ends Jayson Oweh and Shaka Toney opted for the NFL draft while senior Shane Simmons decided to forego his extra year of eligibility upon graduation and leave the program.
Ebiketie will most likely start opposite sophomore Adisa Isaac next fall. Even still the defensive end position is thin with redshirt freshman Smith Vilbert and redshirt sophomore Nick Tarburton are the only other defensive ends on the roster at the moment.
Ebiketie joins former Baylor running back John Lovett, South Carolina corner back Johnny Dixon and Duke defensive tackle Derrick Tangelo as transfers into the Penn State football program this winter.
Unlike Lovett and Dixon, Ebiketie did not have an offer from the Nittany Lions coming out of high school, in fact the former low three star recruit did not have a single power five offer back in 2017.
Even though he is the fourth player picked out of the transfer portal thus far, expect Franklin to continue to fill holes and add depth this winter, potentially at safety, offensive line and even quarterback.
