Penn State football is 0-2 for commitments on Wednesday.
Following the news of four-star safety Gabe Jenkin's Colorado commitment, four-star running back Gary Walker also went in another direction.
Walker, the No. 145 overall Class of 2027 recruit and No. 7 running back, per 247Sports Composite rankings, committed to Clemson on May 20. The consensus top 10 rusher had a slew of official visits lined up with his first coming up over the weekend of May 22 with Stanford.
Walker was scheduled to visit Happy Valley over the weekend of June 12. His other visits were with the Tigers (May 29), Virginia Tech (June 5), and Florida State (June 19).

Four-star running back Gary Walker commits to Clemson over Penn State
His 2025 performance that saw him accumulate 1,669 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns piqued the interest of multiple Power Four teams, and Penn State was one that quickly gained traction in his recruitment.
In mid-April, Walker saw head coach Matt Campbell and his Nittany Lions for an unofficial spring practice visit. Following the visit, he told Lions247 that Penn State was high on his list. It became the Tigers' biggest threat before they sealed the deal on Wednesday.
What ultimately gave Clemson the edge was Campbell's redirection at running back. The blue and white turned their attention to four-star Aiden Gibson and three-star Chukwuma Odoh, both who recently committed on May 12 and May 14, respectively. The late switch in targets sacrificed momentum in Walker's recruitment
Though Campbell got two running backs who fit the identity he wants in the offensive backfield, Walker would have been a huge addition to that room. At 6-foot, 200 pounds, the physicality is there and almost equal to Gibson and Odoh.
While slightly undersized than those two, it's not by much. Walker compliments the bigger, physical attributes of the fellow Class of 2027 recruits and balances it out with the speed and explosiveness that Ohio State transfer James Peoples has.
A versatile running back, regardless of the exact features Campbell wants in that room moving forward, is beneficial. Walker could go either way, physical or fast, and Campbell could have used a multipurpose rusher to his advantage.
The Nittany Lions aren't done beefing up their running back room. Four-star David Segarra, and three-stars Javarris Warner, Da'Jon Talley-Rhodes all have official visits coming up.
Segarra is the No. 6 rusher in the class, per 247Sports Composite rankings, and was another running back that Clemson had its eyes on. He has visits lined up with Indiana, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and South Carolina. This will be a much more heated recruitment battle for the Nittany Lions now that the Tigers plucked a four-star off the board.
