Four-star running back Gary Walker says "Penn State is high" on his list following spring visit
The running back scheduled an official visit with the Nittany Lions for over the weekend of June 14, but it won't be his first time on campus. Walker was in Happy Valley from April 10-11, observing practice Saturday morning and connecting with Penn State running backs coach Savon Higgins.
According to Calvaruso, the unofficial visit sat well with Walker and cemented the blue and white's spot as a serious contender for his commitment.
Walker also has official visits lined up with Stanford, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Florida State. He will be at Penn State in between his visits with the Hokies and Seminoles. Walker previously visited Florida State unofficially as well at the end of March and for its Junior Day on Jan. 31.
For Higgins and head coach Matt Campbell, spending as much time recruiting Walker as possible is key to get on the same level as the Seminoles. The Tigers are also high on Walker's list, but based on his reaction following his visit in Happy Valley, the Nittany Lions are in a good spot heading into the spring and summer sessions of official visits. Walker would be their first running back commit in the class.
Other teams that also expressed interest in the running back were Florida, Georgia Tech, and Alabama. Walker currently has 31 offers on the table as of mid-April.
