The wait is over for Penn State football. On Saturday evening, cornerback Semajay Robinson made it official that he committed to the Nittany Lions following a multi-day visit he took to Happy Valley.

Sudden change in 4-star RB's commitment plans can kick off Penn State's Class of 2027

Penn State extended its offer on Jan. 27, and very quickly after, Robinson had a two-day visit lined up with the program. He was on campus on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28. The announcement of his commitment came late in the day on Saturday.

The Nittany Lions struggled landing their first commitment in the Class of 2027, making good progress with many recruits but not following through all the way to add names to the class' roster.

Robinson makes his mark as their first commitment. He is a four-star cornerback from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and on Rivals' top-300 prospect list. He is ranked 253rd overall from the Class of 2027, No. 30 among cornerbacks, and No. 29 among recruits from Florida.

In 2025, he had 17 tackles and one pass breakup over 11 games.

“It’s really all about [assistant coach and cornerbacks coach] Terry [Smith] and his coaching,” Robinson told Rivals as to why Penn State was the place for him. “The way he’s been able to coach and develop guys like , those are guys I model my game after. He’s got a strong legacy there and has developed a lot of guys."

Robinson also added that Smith is very responsive no matter what's going on in his day.

"We talk every other day. If I were to hit [Smith] up, he’s calling me back in no more than three minutes," Robinson said. "That’s a big part of it. It doesn’t matter if he’s with his family, out at practice or in a meeting, he’s getting back to me in three minutes. He’s just a great person. He cares about you off the field.”

Robinson feels similarly about the rest of the Nittany Lions' staff, specifically recruiting assistant Alan Zemaitis and head coach Matt Campbell. He said he looks forward in continuing building that relationship with Campbell and that he likes what the new Penn State head coach stands for.

As a result of his commitment, Robinson also plans on canceling all visits he initially scheduled with other schools. That list includes Mississippi and Virginia. Boston College, Florida State, Kentucky, Missouri, and Pittsburgh, according to Ryan Snyder of Rivals, were other programs pushing to get visits locked down with Robinson.
