Three-star wide receiver Jamir Dean committed to Penn State at the beginning of May. The Nittany Lions added their second wide receiver to their Class of 2027 with Dean's commitment, but that number might drop down to one again.

On May 7, Steve Wiltfong of Rivals reported that an SEC powerhouse is working on initiating a flip. Georgia offered Dean a scholarship on May 6, and he planned to schedule an official visit in his calendar almost immediately after receiving the offer.

Dean is ranked No. 435 nationally, No. 55 among wide receivers, and No. 18 among recruits from Tennessee, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Rivals Industry Rankings lists the wideout at No. 686 nationally, No. 101 at his position, and No. 26 from his state.

In 2025, Dean had 34 catches for 590 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 17.4 yards per catch and 45.4 receiving yards per game. He also played on special teams for Alcoa High School, totaling 101 kick return yards and 59 punt return yards in 13 games as a junior in 2025. Dean averaged 57.7 all purpose yards per game.

The Nittany Lions initially beat out Arkansas, Purdue, and Wisconsin for the wide receiver. He told Rivals at the time of his commitment that he wasn't expecting to make his decision as soon as he did, but that he felt like Happy Valley was the place for him.

Now with the Bulldogs on the table, that statement isn't so true anymore.

As for as head coach Matt Campbell is concerned, recruiting Dean should still be a priority. Regardless of his commitment, it's clear that the right offer can sway his mind and quickly reopen his recruitment.

Campbell's Class of 2027 includes just one other wide receiver in four-star Landon Blum. He is also trying to outlast Alabama and Tennessee for four-star wideout Deshawn Hall.

Dean currently has an official visit lined up with Penn State over the weekend of June 19. It's expected for Georgia to be added to his list of visits soon.
