The Alcoa, Tenn. native is the No. 433 recruit nationally in the class and 54th-ranked wide receiver. He's also ranked 18th among student-athletes from Tennessee, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Rivals Industry Rankings lists Dean at No. 681 nationally, No. 100 among wide receivers, and No. 26 from his home state.

Dean had official visits lined up with four schools: Penn State, Mississippi State, Wake Forest, and UConn. He scheduled his with the Nittany Lions almost instantly after receiving an offer, according to Ryan Snyder of Blue White Illustrated.

He had an unofficial visit in late April, which confirmed his decision that Happy Valley was home. Dean commented on how the development on and off the field spoke to him as well as the opportunities young players have at State College.

“I didn’t expect to commit this soon, but Penn State is a great place for me,” Dean told Chad Simmons of Rivals.

He also spoke about wide receiver coach Kashif Moore and how he respects Moore's honesty when it comes to skill, development, and potential in his players. Dean told Rivals that Moore is a good teacher as well who can help recruits visualize how they'll fit in as Nittany Lions.

Penn State now as the No. 5 overall Class of 2027. On Wednesday afternoon, four-star defensive lineman Stanley Montgomery committed, helping bump the Nittany Lions up. Dean is the second commit in 24 hours, joining four-star wideout Landon Blum in the wide receiver room.
