Penn State football hosted 26 prospects this past weekend, including a pair of uncommitted wide receivers who could both be on their way to Happy Valley soon.

Following the busy official visit weekend, the Nittany Lions are in good position to land Khalil Taylor and Deshawn Hall, both ranked as four-star recruits.

Penn State received positive news in the race for Hall as expert predictions submitted from 247Sports and On3 favored the blue and white to land the Prattville, Ala. receiver.

Hall is the No. 202 player in the nation, No. 25 wide receiver, and No. 10 player from Alabama. If he winds up with the Nittany Lions, that means Campbell beat out Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee, among other SEC teams.

Penn State should anticipate commitments from four-star wide receivers, Khalil Taylor and Deshawn Hall following expert predictions

This is a major shift in Hall's recruitment. Prior to the weekend, the other three schools in his top four were all projected with a better chance to land the wideout. Also, with Penn State targeting multiple wide receivers, including Taylor, that could've been something that turned Hall away from leaning towards the Nittany Lions.

Chad Simmons of Rivals was the most recent expert who logged his prediction. Ryan Snyder and Steve Wiltfong quickly got theirs in on Sunday, and Simmons followed with his early on Tuesday. Due to the three predictions in favor of Penn State, head coach Matt Campbell's squad's likelihood to land Hall skyrocketed. The blue and white now sit at a 93.4 percent chance.

Penn State’s official visit weekend is already paying huge dividends for its wide receivers room, and while neither Taylor nor Hall have officially committed yet, it seems to be a matter of “when” and not “if."

On Sunday, 247Sports and On3 both submitted expert predictions for Taylor to commit to the Nittany Lions. Additionally, the Gibsonia, Pa. native reportedly cancelled his official visits scheduled with Nebraska and Alabama, two of the other programs squarely in the mix.

Taylor is the No. 77 ranked player in the country and the No. 13 wide receiver, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The Pine-Richland star would represent a massive in-state recruiting win for Penn State head coach Matt Campbell in a 2027 class that doesn’t have many yet. Only four of the Nittany Lions’ commits are from Pennsylvania. Taylor is the No. 4 prospect in the state.

Landon Blum of Woodbine, Iowa and Jamir Dean of Alcoa, Tenn., the two receivers already committed in the Class of 2027, were also in State College over the weekend.

Penn State may be on shaky ground with Dean as Georgia tries flipping him. Dean committed to the Nittany Lions on May 1, but was offered by the Bulldogs five days later, and took an official visit to Athens, Ga. on the weekend of May 29.

The uncertainty surrounding Dean makes securing one, if not both, of Taylor and Hall necessary for Campbell. Wide receiver has been an issue for Penn State for years. While the blue and white will lean heavily on Iowa State transfers Chase Sowell and Brett Eskildsen in 2026, Campbell needs to solidify the future of the position in 2027 and beyond.
