Penn State still needs to build on its defensive line in the 2024 recruiting class. After the Michigan game last season Coach Franklin spoke about how the Nittany Lions need to have larger bodies, especially on the interior defensive line. If they can land Benedict Umeh, they will be able to accomplish that, as he is listed at 6’5 260lbs.

Umeh is coming off of an official visit to Penn State this past weekend, and based on his social media posts it appears to have gone very well. He is a 4-star interior defensive lineman and is ranked as the number one player in Connecticut per 247sports.

This is a player who is just scratching the surface of his potential. As he played his freshman and sophomore seasons at West Toronto Prep in Canada. Last season he relocated to Avon Old Farms high school in Avon, Connecticut, and explode onto the scene.

Umeh is an explosive player on tape who frequently racks up tackles for losses. The other interesting nugget for Umeh is academics are one of his major selling points as his other top schools include Stanford and Duke. The Nittany Lions hope to have Umeh anchor their defensive line in the future.
