Wide Receiver

The fact Penn State doesn’t have a quarterback committed may be hurting wide receiver recruiting.

The Nittany Lions currently have one wide receiver committed in the 2023 class in 4-star Ejani Shakir. There was another wide receiver commit, but Yazeed Haynes flipped to Georgia in July.

Penn State also missed on a couple of top targets in Rodney Gallagher and Cam Seldon, who both committed elsewhere.

Much like Yurcich and the quarterbacks, wide receiver coach Taylor Stubblefield will need to identify new targets. This may be a situation where Stubblefield waits and evaluates tape from this upcoming high school football season and then extends offers in November and December.

After taking four wide receivers last cycle, this is not a glaring need, but one or two more wide receivers would be nice to have.
