Penn State football will look at new options at wide receiver after losing a commit on Monday.

Yazeed Haynes decommitted from Penn State football on Monday, leaving the Nittany Lions with just one wide receiver commit in the 2023 class.

While the lone commit, Ejani Shakir, is a good one, having just one wide receiver in a recruiting class is ill advised.

Wide receiver has become one of the most important positions in college football lately. LSU won the national championship in 2019 thanks to a prolific passing offense, and Alabama and Ohio State have been loading up on wide receivers in the recent years.

Penn State landed four wide receiver commits in the 2022 class, so wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield will only need to find one or two more wide outs in this class.

A few weeks ago, we looked at possible replacements at quarterback after Marcus Stokes decommitted, today we’ll do the same at wide receiver.
