Rushing yards: Nicholas Singleton

Rushing touchdowns: Keyvone Lee

It’s no secret that Nicholas Singleton is the most physically gifted back on this team, so he can and will play right away. However, he might not be the go-to back throughout the first few weeks of the season.

A veteran in Keyvone Lee returns for Ja’Juan Seider’s unit, and the starting job will be his to lose. As a result, he will probably be the lead back in terms of carries throughout September, and will especially be a factor in goal-to-go situations as he is a physical runner at 230+ pounds that can excel in such scenarios. So don’t be surprised to see the third year back be the team’s leader in rushing touchdowns on the season.

However, Singleton’s elite speed and athleticism will allow him to pick up large chunks of yardage, especially in the open field. Plus, he could become the No. 1 back by the midway point of the season, so he will almost certainly lead the team in rushing yards as a true freshman in 2022.
