Nick Singleton, one of the best high school running backs in the nation, committed to Penn State football one year ago today.

Today is the one-year anniversary of freshman running back Nick Singleton committing to Penn State football.

Singleton’s commitment was a massive deal for multiple reasons.

He was a Pennsylvania recruit and a running back. Penn State’s history with in-state running backs is great, so losing one of Singleton’s caliber would’ve been a bad look and put a dent in the Nittany Lions’ recruiting momentum.

Penn State also really needed Singleton. They did not take a running back in the 2021 cycle, so taking two in 2022 became a priority for the staff. Lastly, Singleton is really good, so of course Penn State wanted him.

With Singleton being an in-state recruit and a running back, a position Penn State develops really well, you would think that he would’ve been an easy grab for the Nittany Lions. But this recruitment was a battle that included big-name programs from all across the country.

There were plenty of times throughout the process that Penn State fans were nervous he would not end up in Happy Valley. Let’s take a look back at Nick Singleton’s recruitment.
