No more need for Penn State Football fans to stress over having multiple numbers on the same side of the ball, as a three returning Nittany Lions have officially picked out their new numbers.

The most confusing was having two quarterbacks wearing No. 9 – Christian Veilleux and Beau Pribula.

Veilleux wore No. 9 as a true freshman last season, as wide receiver Daniel George already had No. 11, but with George’s departure, Veilleux has now gotten his old high school number back.

Another number that was a duplicate on offense was No. 13, which was being used throughout the spring by both KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Kaytron Allen.

Lambert-Smith wore No. 2 in high school, and he could have opted to take that with the number now available due to Ta’Quan Roberson transferring to UConn, but he decided to go with another number that has seen some recent success with Penn State wideouts.

Finally, Nick Dawkins, who previously wore No. 66 for Penn State Football, has taken over Rasheed Walker’s old number. That was also his father’s number in the NBA – the great Darryl Dawkins.

Hopefully some of these Nittany Lions can go on to have careers similar to some others who have switched their number during their time in State College, such as one of the all-time great linebackers in Penn State history, Paul Posluszny.

There are still some duplicate numbers on opposing sides of the ball for the Nittany Lions, as there has been for a while, for many teams across the country.

A few notable duplicates on the Penn State Football roster include – kicker Jake Pinegar and defensive end Smith Vilbert both wearing No. 92, long snapper Chris Stoll and defensive tackle Dvon Ellis both with No. 91, quarterback Beau Pribula and cornerback Joey Porter Jr. with No. 9, and wide receiver Kaden Saunders and safety Jaylen Reed wearing No. 7.

Soon, we should know all the numbers for all the true freshmen that arrived on campus in May, as well as for transfers Dameioun Robinson and Hunter Nourzad.

Next. Some key position battles still up for grabs for Penn State Football. dark
