Impact No. 2 – All aboard the Berge Pain Train

When the news hit in early January that Berge was coming back to Happy Valley to give it one more shot, the Penn State Wrestling faithful were buzzing with anticipation.

Berge, as I’ve mentioned many times, is as decorated a wrestler as anyone on the Nittany Lion squad, would be leaving his coaching position in South Dakota State to put it all on the line and slap on the Penn State singlet for one last ride.

It appeared Brady was headed for a possible All-American run in last year’s NCAA’s, however a freak injury during his match against Rider’s Jesse Dellavecchia in the quarter finals abruptly ended any hope. Shortly after the NCAA Championships Berge announced his retirement from Penn State and college wrestling.

And looking back on this, just think to yourself, how great would it be for Brady Berge to get another shot at glory?

Well he now has this shot and something tells me he’s not going to waste a single ounce of it.

Make no mistake about it, Brady Berge came back to wrestle at Penn State to prove something.

And based on what he was able to do against some of the nation’s best wrestlers at 165 (aside from Marinelli – but I’m chalking this up to a bad night), I can’t wait to see what damage he can do at 157.

Brady looked noticeably bulkier during his comeback, but not in a bad way at all. You can tell he hit the weight room at South Dakota State because in his first match back it looked like Berge’s muscles had muscles on top of them.

If he can add his strength gains to his vast wrestling experience and sprinkle in a dash of determination, it’s a recipe for success.

Time to get the train rolling!
