Rutgers showed signs of improvement in head coach Greg Schiano’s first season in his second stint at the helm of the Scarlet Knights. They will look to continue a trend in the right direction, but they may not quite be ready to get back to a bowl game this season.

Even though they are an improved team, the Scarlet Knights still have to face a lot of tough competition within their division. They also have two tough Big Ten divisional crossover games against Wisconsin and Northwestern.

Rutgers does have some weapons on offense for returning quarterback Noah Vedral to get the ball to. Athlon Sports had this to say about the Knights’ offense:

"There are plenty of playmakers for Vedral to get the ball to in Gleeson’s fast-paced spread offense, including running back Isaih Pacheco and wide receiver Bo Melton."

Athlon Sports also mentions that Rutgers returns it’s entire offensive line.

The Scarlet Knights defense still needs to make some improvements. Additionally, just because they return a lot of production offensively does not mean that they will be able to hang with the talent on many other teams in their division and on their schedule.
