Purdue finished with a 2-4 record in 2020, and there is not too much to suggest that their record will take a big step forward in the new season. Coach Jeff Brohm’s Boilermakers face a schedule that does not necessarily work in their favor.

Week 1, Purdue opens up with a Pac-12 opponent in Oregon State, a team that will probably be a bottom feeder in their conference. This is definitely a winnable game for Purdue, but their non-conference schedule does not get any easier.

After the Oregon State matchup, Brohm leads his team to back-to-back road games. The first being a trip to UConn, another winnable game. Then, to South Bend to take on Notre Dame.

As for conference play, Purdue has two of their more winnable games on the road (Nebraska and Northwestern). They also drew two of the best teams in the East Division (Ohio State and Indiana) for their crossover games.

The Boilermakers definitely can make a push for a bowl bid being led my star wide receiver David Bell. Although, they will also need help on the defensive side from their new defensive coordinator Brad Lambert after their defense “surrendered 34 points or more in each of Purdue’s final three games last season” according to Athlon Sports.
