B1G Coaches Rankings: Where does Penn State Football’s James Franklin land?
3. Kirk Ferentz – Iowa Hawkeyes
Not many programs in America get more from less than Iowa, and Kirk Ferentz has been the head man during all of that.
The Hawkeyes could have one of their best teams of the past decade in 2021 as quarterback Spencer Petrus enters his second season as the starter. Last season after starting 0-2, the Hawkeyes rolled off six straight to end the season.
Ferentz is 168-106 in his time at Iowa and is the longest tenured head coach in the Big Ten as he enters his 23rd season at the helm.
He was in some deep water last offseason after accusations of inappropriate behavior toward some players and had to let his strength coach go, who was the highest paid in the industry at the time.
