Penn State Football Junior wide receiver Jahan Dotson was named the Big Ten Special Teams player of the week Monday after he returned a punt for a touchdown in Saturday’s victory.

The Big Ten announced Monday that Penn State Football wide receiver Jahan Dotson has been named the Special Teams player of the week for week eight.

Dotson returned a punt 81 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s victory over Michigan State. The score put the Nittany Lions up 15 and out the Spartans away for good as Penn State won 39-24. Aside from the punt return touchdown, Dotson had yet another monster week against the Spartans with eight catches for 108 yards.

This was the first Penn State football punt return for a touchdown since September of 2018, when DeAndre Thompkins returned one for 39 yards in the Nittany Lions 51-6 blowout of the Pitt panthers at Heinz Field.

This is the third straight week a Penn State football player has been honored by the conference with a player of the week honor. In week six, running back Keyvone Lee was named Big Ten Freshman of the week thanks to his breakout performance against Michigan, rushing for 134 yards and a touchdown.

After the victory against Rutgers in Week 7, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was also named Big Ten Freshman of the week. Porter Jr. racked up seven tackles in that one while blanketing Rutgers receivers all afternoon.

Dotson has had an incredible junior season to this point, leading the Big Ten in receiving with 695 yards, hauling in 46 receptions and six touchdowns.
