TE Pat Freiermuth

Penn State Football fans breathed a collective sigh of relief last winter when star tight end Pat Freiermuth announced he was returning for his junior season.

Citing “unfinished business,” as reason for his return, Freiermuth passed on the NFL and should be a key cog in the offense yet again in 2020.

It is yet to be seen exactly how new offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca will implement Frieiermuth in the offense, however expect him to continue to be a target in the red zone.

Already with 15 touchdown receptions in his first two seasons, Freiermuth’s 6-foot-5 and 258-pound frame makes him a dynamic — and productive — red zone threat. Freiermuth caught 43 passes for 507 yards last season, both good for second on the team.

As the Nittany Lions’ receiving corps goes through a bit of a transition this season following K.J. Hamler’s departure via the NFL Draft, don’t be surprised if Freiermuth becomes an even bigger factor in the passing game beginning Saturday.
