Special Teams:

Another inconsistent performance for the special teams.  Freshman kicker Joey Julius missed not one but two extra point attempts.  He also had one of his kickoffs go out of bounds for a penalty.  He was eventually replaced by sophomore Tyler Davis, who nailed his only extra point try and kicked a 30-yard field goal.

It remains to be seen if there will be a change made at kicker.

Daniel Pasquariello had a better day punting the ball.  He averaged 44.3 yards on seven punts including a 54 yard boomer and one that pinned Indiana deep into their own territory.  DeAndre Thompkins didn’t have much time in the return game and fair caught most of his punts, although he did break one for 19 yards into Indiana territory.

Another negative for the special teams was getting caught off guard by the Indiana onsides kick, but lucky the Penn State defense was up to the challenge and shutdown the Hoosiers on that drive.
