The day is almost here. No. 3 Penn State v. No. 6 Oregon is slated for a White Out nighttime game on Saturday, Sept. 27. After a weak non-conference schedule with less than optimal performances on offense, the Nittany Lions (3-0) seek their first big time win of the 2025 season. If they come out victorious, it will be a huge statement win that will keep critics a bit quieter for the time being. On the other side of the field, the Ducks (4-0) hope to put a stop Penn State from avenging its 2024 Big Ten Championship Game loss.
While the Nittany Lions had the grace of a bye week in Week 4, Oregon was busy beating Oregon State, 41-7. The Ducks have an explosive offense right out of the gate this season and their defense isn't trailing too far behind. Penn State's defense has highlighted the team so far, earning a shutout in Week 2 and nearly repeating it in Week 3. It's expected that both coordinators for the Nittany Lions debut some new looks that weren't used unnecessarily in the first three weeks.
The top 10 matchup earned a visit from ESPN's "College GameDay" as well. The crew will be on campus in Happy Valley Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET.

Penn State v. Oregon series history
The Nittany Lions and Ducks have a five-game history that the blue and white lead, 3-2. Oregon, though, got the last laugh in 2024 when the two faced off in the Big Ten Championship Game. The Ducks beat Penn State 45-37 and was one of many games that left people wondering if head coach James Franklin and quarterback Drew Allar can handle the pressure.
Saturday is the first time these two teams go head-to-head in a regular season battle in this century and third time in series history. Their first matchup was in 1960 when the Nittany Lions beat Oregon and followed it up with another win three years later. On Oct. 3, 1964, the Ducks stopped that winning streak, but fell to Penn State in the 1994 Rose Bowl.
