Penn State football Class of 2027 target Dhillon McGee is transferring for his senior season. The three-star cornerback emerged as one of the top defensive backs in Texas over his three years playing on varsity for Red Oak High School, but he decided to head back to his hometown to finish out his high school career.
According to Charlie Williams of Inside Texas, McGee will attend and play for DeSoto High School in 2026.
The Eagles are projected to be the top high school in the nation this upcoming season with a team that features a number of high-end prospects, like four-star running back and Texas Tech commit SaRod Baker. DeSoto is coming off a UIL Class 6A-Division II state championship as well. This was its fourth title on its way to building a Texas high school dynasty. The Eagles also won their state championship in 2022, 2023, and 2025.
DeSoto also produced Class of 2026 four-star wide receiver Ethan "Boobie" Feaster. Feaster committed to and signed with USC, choosing the Trojans over LSU and Texas A&M.
In 2025, McGee logged 31 tackles and 15 passes defended in 10 games, nearly doubling his stats from his 12-game, sophomore season in 2024.

Penn State cornerback target Dhillon McGee transfers to top high school for 2026 senior season
McGee will be a huge addition to DeSoto's cornerback room. After a strong junior campaign with Red Oak, he will hopefully carry that production over to the Eagles who didn't have a significant show-out from their cornerback room in 2026.
If McGee has the opportunity to boost that position room and continue his success from his previous high school, his will definitely catch the eyes of a lot of collegiate programs around the country. McGee has a total of 15 offers right now, including ones from Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Michigan, Nebraska, and Ole Miss in addition to his top three teams.
McGee has yet to decide where he will take his talents at the next level. He had three official visits lined up for this season with SMU, Penn State, and Texas. The cornerback also plans on announcing his commitment on June 24-25, which means the Nittany Lions will have to wait just a bit longer on McGee's commitment.
The Mustangs are the current program to beat. According to Rivals, they have an 87.5 percent chance to land McGee and Penn State has just a 5.6 percent chance. Sam Spiegelman of Rivals logged an expert prediction on May 15 favoring SMU, but there has yet to be any other predictions submitted since the start of official visit season.
McGee visited the Mustangs on June 5-7 and was in Happy Valley on June 12-14 with just four other recruits. With just a small group of prospects on campus, head coach Matt Campbell could put a little extra focus on McGee.
His commitment is almost critical for the Nittany Lions too as they just sustained two cornerback flips with Semajay Robinson (Virginia) and Zachary Gleason Jr. (West Virginia). Now with McGee's transfer to the projected top high school program, his commitment is more important than ever and can provide a significant boost for Campbell;s class. He would be the third cornerback in Campbell's class, joining four-star Kei'Shjuan Telfair and three-star Ka'ron Ceasar.
