A recruitment stagnation has hit Penn State football as it awaits a series of commitment announcements from its top remaining prospects. Unfortunately for the Nittany Lions, though, things aren't panning out in their favor.
Composite four-star edge rusher Ifeanyi Emedobi is scheduled to announce his commitment on Thursday, June 18 at 11 a.m. ET live on On3's YouTube channel. There are three schools in the running: Penn State, Minnesota, and Michigan.
The Fort Wayne, Ind. recruit is ranked No. 441 nationally, No. 44 at edge rusher, and no. 10 from his state, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. Per MaxPreps, Emedobi totaled 59 tackles, 14 quarterback hurries, 6.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles as a junior in 2025.

Four-star edge rusher Ifeanyi Emedobi is scheduled to announce commitment on Thursday, June 18
The Golden Gophers were the first Emedobi visited on May 29-31, and he was in Happy Valley the weekend after. He was part of the 26-prospect weekend head coach Matt Campbell scheduled. Despite scheduling an official visit with Indiana, the home-state team didn't hold up well against the other three Big Ten schools. Unfortunately for the Nittany Lions, though, they didn't either.
The Wolverines are projected to land Emedobi with nearly a 100 percent chance. Since late May, Rivals experts have logged predictions favoring Michigan. The latest from both Rivals and 247Sports, which were logged on June 14, doubled down on the first batch of predictions as well.
"Michigan is definitely a proven program where I can see myself at," Emedobi told Brice Marich of 247Sports after his official visit this past weekend.
The official visit sparked Emedobi to set a commitment date too, meaning Campbell's hopes of landing another blue-chip recruit are have all but officially been made dead.
This is the second top edge rusher in the class Penn State has whiffed on this week. Five-star defensive end Abraham Sesay pulled the trigger on his Notre Dame commitment on Tuesday. Sesay's bumpy recruitment road ultimately ended exactly where he was expected to, though it's still a tough blow for the Nittany Lions to lose to the Fighting Irish once again in recruiting.
On defense, Campbell only has a few prospects left on his board. Three-star cornerback Dhillon McGee, three-star linebacker Case Alexander, and three-star linebacker Tyson Washington are all still available out of recruits who took official visits to Penn State. At defensive end, Emedobi was really the last potential prospect. The Nittany Lions landed four-star Elijah Guertin and three-star Carter Blattner. Retaining those two recruits will be critical given they don't have many other options unless Campbell pushes hard to flip athletes committed to other programs around the country.
