Rivals' latest expert prediction has Peter Bourque committing to Penn State
The Hingham, Mass. native is a four-star recruit from the Class of 2027. He is the top prospect out of Massachusetts and No. 6 quarterback from his class. He's also the No. 81 overall recruit, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.
Bourque was committed to the Wolverines since Aug. 11, 2025, which was another major blow Penn State suffered at that position after quarterback Teddy Jarrard committed to Notre Dame. Months later on Tuesday, Feb. 17, Bourque announced his de-commitment from the program and put the Nittany Lions back in the race.
At the time of his de-commitment, he told Wiltfong that he wanted to ensure he made the right decision. This update in his recruitment followed Michigan's firing of former head coach Sherrone Moore and hiring of new head coach Kyle Whittingham.
Per Rivals, the Wolverines still have the majority to land Bourque at 57.4 percent. Penn State is right behind at 39 percent. Another sleeper team in the mix is Georgia. According to Jed May, the young quarterback said that the Bulldogs check "all the boxes," so the Nittany Lions shouldn't get too comfortable too quick.
Virginia Tech is also a program in the mix to land Bourque, which is led by former Penn State head coach James Franklin. Out of the three newest teams on Bourque's list — the Nittany Lions, Bulldogs, and Hokies — he only took one unofficial visit so far to Georgia.
According to Nate Lunak of Athlon Sports, Bourque was impressed by his unofficial visit at the beginning of March.
“This visit helped Georgia and they will be one of the few schools in the mix when it comes down to it for sure,” Bourque said to Chad Simmons of Rivals. “I was super impressed and I will be there again for sure. They will get an official visit and I hope to get back for a spring practice.”
Bourque will be a huge prospect for head coach Matt Campbell to land. Not only will he be one of the first, if not the first, recruits to commit to Penn State from the Class of 2027, but Campbell will ensure that the Nittany Lions don't run into a talent issue at quarterback for years to come.
