Believe it or not, Penn State head coach James Franklin actually has an identical twin... sort of. Keegan-Michael Key, famous comedian, has notoriously tied himself to the Nittany Lions' coach due to their somewhat-shocking resemblance.

On Thursday, Oct. 31, it was announced that Key would return to Happy Valley as ESPN College GameDay's celebrity guest picker of the week.

At the 2018 Penn State spring football game, Key even dressed up as Franklin, glasses and all, and went through his usual pregame and in-game rituals, more of a method actor than anything else.

Not only does Key look like James Franklin but he is also an alumni of the University. The comedian attended Penn State University for his Master of Fine Arts degree after attending the University of Detroit-Mercer for his undergraduate education.

Key is arguably best known for his stint as a co-star on Comedy Central's Key & Peele alongside fellow actor, comedian, and producer Jordan Peele. However, Key has had an acting career for nearly three decades and it only continues to blossom:

Keegan-Michael Key's major TV & film roles

  • Key & Peele – 2012-15
  • Mad TV – 2004-09
  • Let's Be Cops – 2014
  • Keanu – 2016
  • The Predator – 2018
  • Wonka – 2023

ESPN College GameDay starts every Saturday of the college football season at 9 a.m. ET. FOX's Big Noon Kickoff will also be in Happy Valley for the top-four matchup between Ohio State and Penn State.

The Nittany Lions and the Buckeyes are scheduled to kick off at noon ET on Saturday, Nov. 2. The game will be broadcast on FOX.
