Last week, the former President of the United States Donald Trump announced that he had plans to attend the Week 10 game between Ohio State and Penn State – a top-four and Big Ten matchup. Just days before kickoff, Trump announced that he no longer planned to attend the game.
Wyatt Russell, Penn State's director of public relations said, “The University has been notified that former President Donald Trump will no longer be attending the Ohio State-Penn State football game.”
Trump's plan to attend was originally reported by Yahoo! Sports on Oct. 24 and Penn State later confirmed that the former President had an invitation to the game.
Not only is the game a top-four matchup and one of the conference's biggest rivalry games of the season, but it is also FOX's Big Noon Kickoff game of the week. As the two teams clash in Happy Valley, home of the Nittany Lions, the game will be aired on FOX at noon ET/11 a.m. CT.
The game is just days away from the Presidential election night in America, which Trump is once again a major part of – running as the Republican nominee. Election night, Nov. 5, marks the third Presidential election cycle in a row with Trump on the ballot.
Earlier this week, Trump held a rally at Bryce Jordan Center, Penn State's basketball arena. Since the former President no longer plans to attend the Ohio State-Penn State game, security measures are expected to carry on as usual.
Earlier this year, Trump attended the big-time SEC matchup between Alabama and Georgia. The Crimson Tide had ramped up security for the former President's attendance.
