How to watch the College Football Playoff Rankings release show
By Josh Yourish
The third iteration of the 12-team College Football Playoff Rankings in 2024 could get a significant reshuffle after Week 12 of the college football season. No. 1 Oregon escaped an upset scare in Madison, No. 6 BYU took its first loss of the season, falling to Kansas late-night in Provo, and seriously diminishing the Big 12’s hopes of getting two teams into the dance, and No. 12 Georgia took down No. 7 Tennessee in Athens, leaving the SEC with five two-loss teams, all still firmly in the CFP picture.
Now, all the committee has to do is sort through that chaos and give us a definitive top 25 ranking, so that we can immediately tear it apart. When will that process begin? Well, the third CFP rankings release of the 12-team era is on Tuesday, November 19, at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
This is the third of six College Football Playoff rankings releases, which will all be broadcast on ESPN. Here is the upcoming schedule through the final selection of the CFP 12-team bracket on Sunday, December 8.

Penn State College Football Playoff Rankings outlook
Penn State was No. 4 in last week’s rankings and gave the committee no reason to drop any further. The Nittany Lions handled business against Purdue in a 49-10 blowout win on the road to get to 9-1. With No. 1 Oregon, No. 2 Ohio State, and No. 3 Texas all winning, James Franklin’s team likely won’t climb in the rankings either.
With No. 6 BYU and No. 7 Tennessee losing behind the Nittany Lions, and No. 5 Indiana likely to take a loss on Saturday at Ohio State, Penn State could further entrench itself as the No. 4 team in the country, even without a win over a currently ranked opponent on its resume.
