Drew Allar Injury Update: Penn State QB back after 1st-half scare vs. Maryland
For a little while, hearts stopped all over the place when Penn State quarterback Drew Allar went down with what looked to be a concerning injury on Saturday. Allar was visibly in a ton of pain and he hobbled his way to the sideline. What in the world?
With the Nittany Lions taking on Maryland, the last thing Penn State could afford was Allar suffering a serious injury this late in the season, especially with this team focused on the College Football Playoff. Thankfully, after a short stint in the medical tent, Allar was cleared and there's nothing to worry about:
Penn State QB Drew Allar is fine after a small injury scare against Maryland
Not long after going down and then being checked on by team trainers, Allar was back in the game looking like his old self. Yup, he ended up tossing a seven-yard touchdown pass to tight end Tyler Warren to extend the Penn State lead to 31-7 before halftime.
In the first half alone, Allar tossed for 140 yards and a touchdown. As of this writing, Penn State is in cruise control and the No. 4 team in the country is well on its way to posting a lopsided win against the Terrapins.
There's still more football to be played, but it would be wise for James Franklin to go ahead and shut down his QB for the rest of the night sooner rather than later. All in all, it's looking like it's going to be a day to remember for Penn State, as they surely enjoyed watching Ohio State blow it against Michigan earlier too.
