Anthony Donkoh injury update: Penn State offensive linemen helped off field in Week 13
By Josh Yourish
Penn State redshirt freshman Anthony Donkoh won a battle with Wisconsin transfer Nolan Rucci for the starting right tackle job in fall camp and has been solid in the role when he’s been healthy. Donkoh has missed time with injuries this season and could miss more after he had to be helped off the field on Penn State’s first drive of its Week 13 matchup on the road against Minnesota.
Donkoh was knocked back on a pass attempt and grabbed for his right leg as he stayed down and the Penn State training staff ran onto the field to assist him. Rucci replaced him for a play before Penn State was stuffed on third down and forced to punt the ball away to Minnesota.
Penn State’s 2023 recruiting class was loaded with offensive line talent, including five-stars J’Ven Williams and Alex Birchmeier. However, once last year’s starting right tackle Caedan Wallace left the 2023 Peach Bowl loss to Ole Miss, Donkoh, a four-star recruit, took over, and he’s held onto the role since. That included beating out Rucci, a former five-star recruit who was the No. 1 player in Pennsylvania when he originally went to Wisconsin.
Donkoh has played 445 snaps this season to Rucci’s 229. If Donkoh cannot return to the field, Drew Allar will be forced to rely on Rucci at right tackle for the rest of the game.
