From the No. 2 preseason team to barely scraping by into a bowl game, Penn State football's lackluster 2025 season was disappointing to everyone. While searching for good things to take out of the season, the Associate Press 2025 All-American teams gave the Nittany Lions something to be proud of.
Running back Kaytron Allen and offensive lineman Vega Ioane were named to the AP All-American teams on Monday.
Ioane earned a spot on the second team after playing 614 snaps in 2025, the fourth most of any Penn State player. He was one of the key returners for the Nittany Lions' offensive line and was a solid starter throughout his career with the blue and white. Ioane started 32 of his 44 total appearances as a Nittany Lion. In his 12 starts in 2025, Ioane didn't allow one sack and only let by three quarterback pressures.
Like others, Ioane opted out of playing in the Pinstripe Bowl and declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. The redshirt junior will forgo his remaining eligibility. He was voted to the All-Big Ten second team as well by AP and earned All-Big Ten first-team honors.
Allen was the second Penn State player to earn an honor. He was the offensive spark and reliable man for the Nittany Lions, surpassing Nicholas Singleton, who was supposed to be RB1 heading into the season.
The senior rusher broke records in 2025. Allen is now Penn State's all-time leading rusher with 4,180 career yards and 39 scores on the ground. He had a 1,303-yard season in his final year to make that feat possible. In five games, Allen eclipsed 100 rushing yards and also had a 200-plus yard contest as well.
He has yet to announce his plans regarding the Pinstripe Bowl and will participate in January's Senior Bowl. Allen was named to the All-Big Ten first team as well.
With no eligibility left for the running back, Allen's collegiate finale performance helped his draft stock for April 2026 as he hopes to embark on his professional journey hereon out.
