Penn State football tallied an early lead on Saturday night. Quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer and the Nittany Lion offense took over at their own two-yard-line and shaved just over four minutes off the clock, going all the way down the field and into the end zone.

Though tight end Andrew Rappleyea put the six points on the board followed by place kicker Ryan Barker's successful extra point, running back Kaytron Allen had an explosive run that pushed him one spot higher on Penn State's all-time rushing yards list.

Allen came into the night with 3,794 yards under his belt, falling third on the Nittany Lions' historic list behind running back Saquon Barkley.

The senior running back was Grunkemeyer's right hand man on Saturday's opening drive for the Nittany Lions, picking up the first four carries of the game. He picked up eight yards on the first two snaps before Grunkemeyer got the pass game going.

After warming up his arm, the redshirt freshman returned to Allen. Rushing left, Allen stepped back to take the outside edge instead of trying rushing through an open gap where a Nebraska defensive lineman Ty Robinson. He escaped two defenders to do so, staying in bounds and sprinting along the sideline up until defensive back Andrew Marshall saved the Cornhuskers from allowing a touchdown.

Allen was shoved out of bounds, but picked up 50 yards beforehand. That put the Nittany Lions in optimal position to get into the end zone while also giving him an edge on Barkley's spot on the all-time rushing yards leader list.

Barkley finished his career at Penn State with 3,843 yards, including bowl stats. After Allen's 58-yard opening drive on the ground, he surpassed the elite rusher and now has 3,852 yards to his name.

Running back Evan Royster remains in the top spot with 3,932 all-time rushing yards. Between the rest of Saturday night and Week 24 at Rutgers, Allen needs 80 yards to tie for first place on the list. If the Nittany Lions make a bowl game depending on the results of their final two contests, Allen has a third opportunity to tie and potentially takeover the No. 1 all-time rusher spot.
