Announcers for Penn State vs. Wisconsin on NBC in Week 9
By Josh Yourish
At 6-0, James Franklin’s Penn State Nittany Lions are the No. 3 team in the country heading into their Week 9 matchup with the red-hot Wisconsin Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. Penn State is coming off a bye week while the Badgers are off their third-consecutive win, a 23-3 victory over Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois.
Last time out for the Nittany Lions, junior quarterback Drew Allar had to lead a heroic fourth-quarter comeback against the USC Trojans in LA. After two fourth-down conversions to Julian Fleming, Allar hit running back Nicholas Singleton for the game-tying touchdown to send the game to overtime before kicker Ryan Barker won it with a 36-yard field goal.
Penn State is a week away from a potential top-5 matchup with Ohio State at Beaver Stadium, but first Franklin’s team must beat the Badgers on the road to leave the necessary margin for error in the Big Ten championship and 12-team College Football Playoff race.
After two early season losses to USC and Alabama, Wisconsin has found its rhythm on offense behind sophomore quarterback Braedyn Locke, who replaced injured veteran transfer Tyler Van Dyke when he was lost for the season against the Crimson Tide.
Head coach Luke Fickell’s apparent turnaround in Madison has put a spotlight on this matchup with Penn State in NBC’s primetime slot on Saturday night. However, with its three-game win streak coming against Purdue, Rutgers, and Northwestern, this will be a step up in weight class against one of the three favorites to win the Big Ten.
Who are the announcers for Penn State vs. Wisconsin in Week 9?
NBC’s Big Ten Saturday Night crew lead by play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle will be in Madison, Wisconsin for No. 3 Penn State’s matchup with the Wisconsin Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium. Eagle will be joined by former Penn State quarterback Todd Blackledge as his color commentator in the booth and on the sidelines by reporter Kathryn Tappen.
This will be the second time that Eagle, Blackledge, and Tappen have announced a Penn State game this season. The first was Penn State’s 21-7 win over Illinois at Beaver Stadium on September 28.
