The 2023 US Open did not disappoint Penn State Wrestling fans. The Nittany Lions dominated day one and day two was a similar story for our current and present wrestlers.
Following day one, we had 4 Penn State Wrestlers going for a US Open crown and a trip to Final X in June. Just to remind everyone, winning at Final X is the only way a wrestler can qualify to make the US Senior Freestyle team. This is do-or-die for these wrestlers and they did not disappoint. Overall, this was a very entertaining two days of wrestling.
In addition to the 4 members of Penn State Wrestling in the finals at their weight class, we also had 3 more Nittany Lions going for third-place in the consolation brackets. Unfortunately, their goals of reaching Final X are over, but a deep run like this and a potential third place finish is still something to be proud of for all these athletes.
Let’s take a look at how each Penn State wrestler did individually on Friday.
