The men’s freestyle portion of the 2023 US Open began on Thursday and the members from the Penn State Wrestling room did not disappoint. Earlier this week I highlighted seven Penn State wrestlers who were starting their journey to Final X.

Luckily for us, Penn State Wrestling fans, all seven of those individuals made it to the semifinals of their weight class on Thursday night. Most of them did so in dominating fashion.

Unfortunately, two of those weight classes ended up with Penn State versus Penn State semifinals, so we knew going into the night that we’d see our first losses in some way.

All coverage of the tournament can be followed on FloWrestling. You can follow their website for free, but it does require a subscription to watch the event. Tip for anyone trying to subscribe: The website will charge you $150 for a year subscription, but if you use the app on your phone you can do $30 for the month.

The consolation brackets begin at 1 PM on Friday. While the finals will take place at 9 PM on Friday. Now let’s take a look at the weight classes and the journey our Penn State wrestling family went on.
