As we enter the second day and the second round of the NFL draft we have another former Penn State football player off the board. With the 54th pick in the 2023 Nittany Lions mock draft, the Los Angeles Chargers select safetyJi’Ayir Brown.

Just like his former teammate Jaquan Brisker, Tig Brown will be selected in the second round of the NFL draft. Many experts see him going from round 2-4 but I have a hard time believing he makes it out of the second round, especially since the Chargers need a boost in their secondary.

This offseason they lost one of their starting safeties as Nasir Adderley decided to retire from the NFL at the age of 25. Because of this, they still have a star in Derwin James at one safety position but they need to upgrade the free safety position.

It would make a ton of sense to pair James and Brown together in the secondary as they have similar skill sets. They both are ball hawks, can blitz the quarterback well off the edge, and are sound tacklers in the open space. I have Brown landing with the Chargers.
