As we enter the third round of the 2023 Nittany Lion mock draft, I see a former member of the Penn State football tight end room aka the Aces taken. With the 94th pick in the 3rd round, I have the Philadelphia Eagles selecting TE Brenton Strange.

Dallas Goedert is incredible, he’s quickly become one of Jalen Hurt’s favorite targets; however, when Goedert missed time due to injury it was obvious that Hurts didn’t have that same chemistry with the other tight ends in the room. Jack Stoll, Grant Calcaterra, and Tyree Jackson are solid options, but they don’t really wow you.

Brenton Strange has the potential to be a really good tight end and a sleeper in this draft. There are a ton of stars that will go early in the NFL draft, some will even hear their name called tonight, but Strange will have a great NFL career if he continues to improve each year as he did with the Penn State football team.

The biggest strength of Strange’s game is he doesn’t need to come off the field. He can block and run any route required, he is a versatile weapon that could add value to the Eagles’ offense.
