The Michigan Wolverines come to Happy Valley on November 11th 2023. In an ideal scenario, this is the team I would like Penn State to play during the 2023 whiteout. I know there is a rule in place with the Big Ten that no night games are played in November due to the potential risk of fans driving home in bad weather. I would be interested to see with the new Big Ten TV deal with CBS and NBC whether that policy has been changed or not.

Regardless, Michigan is a worthy opponent of the whiteout game. A team that embarrassed the Penn State football team in 2022 when Michigan won 41-17 in Ann Arbor. The Nittany Lions have revenge to seek and this would be a great opportunity to do so.

The last time Michigan was the whiteout opponent was in 2019 when Penn State beat Michigan 28-21 in a thrilling game.

The expectations for both teams are very high in 2023, and it wouldn’t surprise me if this game was being played with the Big Ten East on the line. The main complaint for this being the 2023 whiteout game is the weather in November is unpredictable. The whiteout is great because of Penn State football’s ability to pack Beaver Stadium full of fans, if it’s cold that could change things.

Either way, this game will be one of the biggest of the year for PSU and they need the home-field advantage to be part of this one, whiteout or not.
