After being on campus for the Blue-White game this weekend, class of 2025 running back Kiandrea Barker has committed to Penn State football.
His commitment comes on the day of Penn State running backs coach JaJuan Seider’s birthday. Barker is a 4-star prospect according to 247sports, with a composite ranking of .9506.
He chose Penn State over Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Miami, and Florida State. Barker attends The Woodlands High School in Texas, you can watch his highlights from his sophomore season below.
After watching his highlights it’s clear this kid has all kinds of speed. Once he gets into the open field, no one can keep up with him. He has great patience and vision as a ball carrier. I’ve also noticed his ability to change direction within seconds is a key strength of his.
The Penn State football team has been on a recruiting tear over the past few weeks. Last night they received a commitment from the class of 2024 ATH Caleb Brewer, on April 10th, 2024 CB Antonio Belgrave-Shorter, April 7th they received a commitment from 2024 ATH Quinton Martin, and on April 1st, 2024 CB Jon Mitchell committed to the Nittany Lions.
So, this is a total of 5 commits in just 16 days which shows just how hard the Penn State football staff is working. You have to imagine this streak will continue as the team had a host of 2024 and 2025 recruits on campus for the Blue-White weekend.
With the addition of RB Kiandrea Barker the Penn State 2025 class now has 3 total commits. Offensive Tackle Jaylen Matthews, and safety Omari Gaines.
It’s still very early for the 2025 cycle, but James Franklin is starting to find those class leaders now, which will lay the foundation for the rest of the class.
All signs continue to point to more success to come on the recruiting trail for Penn State.
