Ranking the best position hauls in Penn State Football’s 2023 recruiting class

4. Linebacker

Penn State Football is known for its linebacker play and that was solidified by the play of true freshman Abdul Carter in 2022.

Well, the Nittany Lions will have quite the young core around Carter in the coming years with the three-man linebacker haul in the 2023 recruiting class.

The three linebackers that Penn State signed in this class were all 4-stars and all bring something different to the table.

The group is highlighted by Tony Rojas, who is ranked No. 86 in the 247 Sports Composite. Joining him is Kaveion Keys, No. 265 in the composite, and Ta’Mere Robinson, No. 275 in the composite.

Rojas has the makings of an athletic middle linebacker, while the 6-foot-3 Keys profiles well at the SAM position. Robinson, who is coming off of an ACL injury, is the biggest of the group at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds. There’s a chance Robinson could eventually grow into an edge rusher, but for now he profiles best at the WILL position.

It would not be much of a surprise if one day these three are the starting linebackers for Penn State. For now, look for Rojas and Keys to battle for second team spots to start the 2023 season. Robinson won’t be far behind, but if he truly is a WILL, that is Carter’s spot, so there won’t be much playing time to be had right away.
