1. 3-star DE Joseph Mupoyi (2023)

As the 2023 class starts to close, one position that could use another addition is defensive end.

The Nittany Lions still haven’t replaced 4-star Tomarrion Parker, who they lost over the summer. While depth at the position isn’t a problem on the 2022 Penn State team, it could become one in the future.

Mupoyi has solid size at 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds, giving him the potential to be a serious impact player down the road. He currently attends St. Thomas More in Connecticut, the same school as Penn State commit Zion Tracy.

In addition to having a teammate in his ear about Penn State, Mupoyi was just on campus for the White Out against Minnesota. The Nittany Lions won 45-17 and the atmosphere was incredible. This game was a great recruiting pitch for Penn State.

The No. 45 edge in the 247 Sports Composite also has offers from Auburn, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Ole Miss, Rutgers and Utah. If the Nittany Lions go all in on Mupoyi, they should be able to land him.

Part of the equation may be that Penn State is evaluating linebacker commit Ta’Mere Robinson as a defensive end if it can land another linebacker.
