A Chance to Change the Narrative

Every time the Whiteout comes around, we hear from the college football world that “Penn State is only 7-6 in Whiteout games, it can’t be that big of a deal.” While the record is true, it is routinely a game in which Penn State enters as an underdog.

Penn State is coming off a disappointing loss to a Michigan team that is flat-out better than the Nittany Lions. I don’t recall seeing any preseason predictions where Penn State enters the Whiteout undefeated. It just wasn’t out there.

The narrative right now is that Penn State is overrated. I agree. The advanced stats tell you that Penn State is very average, but they are still 5-1. The “overrated” Penn State team is also going to be favored in all but one more game this season.

Penn State is getting another chance on the national stage during primetime to show the nation that Penn State is a good program. Everything is still attainable for Penn State. 10-2 will put the Nittany Lions in line for a New Years’ Six bowl which wasn’t on the table in August.
