Penn State Football: six things I want to see against Central Michigan

All four quarterbacks

In two of the three games so far this season, we’ve seen three of the four scholarship quarterbacks for Penn State Football, but we have yet to see Beau Pribula. I’d like for that to change this weekend.

Not only would many of us fans like to see a little bit of what the true freshman quarterback can do, but he also deserves it. With Sean Clifford returning this season and a five-star quarterback in the same recruiting class as him, he easily could have opted to sign elsewhere, but he remained committed to the program and seems to be in it for the long haul.

Though his playstyle is different than that of Allar’s, Pribula is still a very talented quarterback that draws many comparisons to Trace McSorley. He is definitely someone who can help the program down the road, so it would be nice to see him be able to get at least a drive or two at the end of the game.

Ideally, like I mentioned earlier, the Nittany Lions can jump out to a fast start and Drew Allar can replace Sean Clifford by the midway point of the second quarter at the latest. Allar could then play the remainder of the first half as well as all or most of the third quarter, at which point Veilleux spells him for a couple drives, followed by Pribula for one or hopefully two.

Though they had a good season last year, I believe this Central Michigan team could be slightly worse than Ohio due to losing a lot of members of last season’s team, and if they felt confident bringing Allar in with a 19-point advantage early in the third quarter against the Bobcats, they should be able to bring him in with a 17+ point lead mid to late second quarter.

This is especially true if they continue to be able to run the ball at will. Even if Allar would struggle a little (which I don’t think he will), they can still hand it off and move the ball and score points with the ground game. So, they shouldn’t need all that big of a lead to feel comfortable making the move in this one.

If we could see three quarterbacks on the road against an SEC team, we should be able to see four at home against an opponent from the MAC.
