Key player on defense – Johnny Dixon (CB)

Our final key to success for Penn State Football against Ohio was for the secondary to work out some wrinkles and really take their play to the next level. Overall, their play at Purdue was good, but some certainly played better than others.

Johnny Dixon was one who left a little something to be desired, primarily as a result of numerous penalties called on the former South Carolina Gamecock.

Though he is not a starter, it seems like he will play a big role in adding depth to the cornerback unit which is necessary if Manny Diaz wants to be able to go two-deep at every position.

We know that for the most part, Penn State’s other corners will take care of business, especially Joey Porter Jr. As a key contributor, Johnny Dixon is going to have to step up though.

He’ll likely get plenty of opportunities this week against another pass-happy offense, so let’s see if he can take advantage of them. The biggest key for him will be not gifting them yards with pass interference penalties. Losing the penalties battle is one thing that can let the underdogs hang around in games like this.
