LB Abdul Carter

True freshman linebacker Abdul Carter had his collegiate debut cut short last Thursday due to a brutal targeting call that was more on the officials than Carter.

The staff likes Carter a lot and thinks he can play right away, as is evident by the fact he wears No. 11, the number most associated with great linebacker play at Penn State.

Carter will not be counted on just in mop up duty though, he will be in the mix from the start of the game. Penn State’s linebacker depth is weak and young guys like Carter are being asked to step up right away and play meaningful snaps.

We don’t have much to take away from Carter’s first game because he was ejected on the very first play he was in for. We can only go off of what the coaches have been saying about him, and they seem to really like him, and James Franklin noted he will be counted on against Ohio.

This Saturday will be Penn State fans’ first real look at the next great one at LBU and it should be an exciting home debut for Carter.
