Penn State Football storyline #2 – will Sean Clifford benefit from continuity?

One of the top storylines throughout the first month of the season will be the answer to one of the top storylines of the offseason; and that is that Sean Clifford will greatly benefit from finally having the same offensive coordinator in consecutive seasons for the first time since he took over the starting job.

It certainly seems plausible that he could take a big step forward this season as a result of being far more comfortable and confident running the system.

However, just like with the offensive line, we won’t know for sure until the season gets rolling.

By the time the calendar turns to October, we will be one quarter of the way through the regular season and should have a pretty good gauge of where Clifford stands.

Will he have faced the best teams on Penn State’s schedule by that point? No, but we should be able to tell how comfortable he is by how well he operates the offense–both pre- and post-snap–throughout September.
