Reason for optimism #3 – Sean Clifford

In a primetime, Big Ten matchup on national TV to kick off the 2022 season, having about as much experience have you can have at the most important position on the field is a huge plus.

If, in year two under Mike Yurcich, Sean Clifford can build off of his first half performance from last year when he was healthy, he can have a really good season and help this Penn State Football team win a lot of games–including this week one matchup at Purdue.

Will he miss on a few throws? Probably, but if he can limit mistakes and avoid turning the ball over–which is one of our keys to success against Purdue–the Nittany Lions will likely come out on top.

Say what you want about No. 14, but he is a good quarterback that can win a lot of games (including this one against Purdue), and having the amount of talent around him that he does–especially at receiver–only helps the fourth-year starter.

Look for Sean Clifford to play well in his final season opener, throwing for a high completion percentage, few or no interceptions, and probably a few touchdowns as well.
